The first required critique was for David Curry's Informative Speech.\u00a0 Now, you get to select a speaker giving a 5 to 10 minute persuasion speech and critique it using the same format\/template as used for David Curry's informative speech on hernias.\r\n\r\nReview the grade and feedback you received on the first critique before you start this assignment.\u00a0 Concerns with formatting should no longer be a factor in your success on this assignment. An effective critique infuses course vocabulary and reflects our reading, discussions and work since completing the first, required critique. \u00a0 I am thrilled that we are at this point in the semester, and I am looking forward to reading your analysis of a pervasive speech of your choosing for your\u00a0 final \"Required Listening Critique\".\r\n\r\n<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">Important:\u00a0\u00a0 If you did not submit \"Required Listening Critique: Informative\" and received a zero for that assignment, you MUST submit the \"Required Listening Critique: Persuasion\" assignment for evaluation to pass the course.\u00a0 Submitting at least one required listening critique is a QUEUE item for all students taking COM101 whether the course is taken in a traditional, classroom section or in this online format.\u00a0 There are no exceptions. \u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nAs you search for a persuasion speech recording to \u00a0critique, think about \u00a0what we have learned so far in the course about tailoring a topic for an audience, speaker delivery choices, basic organization of a persuasive speech, citing sources orally, and\u00a0 utilizing effective openings\/closings and\u00a0visual aids\u00a0to be more effective and engaging.\r\n\r\nThe recording you select should reflect the \u00a0requirements of our class persuasive speech: \u00a0 Taking a position on a topic where there is room to move\/nudge the audience in direction of a speaker's position , using credible logos and tailored pathos to motivate, inspire and\/or to convince the audience to agree\/consider your position.\u00a0 If action is called for, the audience perceives it as being easy and urgent \u00a0to do in follow up to your speech.\u00a0 Finally, the speaker's delivery and use\u00a0 of visual aids enhance and complement the overall persuasive goal without being distracting.\r\n\r\n<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">Reminders:<\/span>\r\n\r\nUse feedback on Required Listening Critique: Informative to avoid losing points for the same concerns in this critique.\r\n\r\nThink of this as a \"lab report\" on a presentation.\u00a0 It is not an essay. A successful critique will include heading information and five areas of evaluation indicated and separated by roman numerals. \u00a0 It will visually look exactly like the\u00a0blank template\u00a0provided to you.\r\n\r\nPrint a hard copy of the\u00a0blank template\u00a0to record your \u00a0thoughts in an organized way as you view the recording of your choice.
