Although I don't expect you to actually send it to the business (unless you want to), I do expect professional quality from you.\r\nFind a job listing (an advertisement or at a placement bureau) which appeals to you and for which you feel qualified or will feel qualified in the near future. It may be a full-time or part-time job.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nWrite a letter of application for the job. Follow this outline for the letter:\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<b>Introduction:\u00a0<\/b>Tell of your interest in the position.\r\n\r\n*the position you are applying for.\r\n\r\n*where you heard about the job.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<b>Body:\u00a0<\/b>Explain why you are a desirable candidate.\r\n\r\n*show knowledge of the company.\r\n\r\n*show understanding of the job requirements.\r\n\r\n*show preparation for the job: training, education, experience (be specific).\r\n\r\n*explain why you are leaving your present job (optional).\r\n\r\n*let your reader know you are ready to learn new aspects (don't mention weaknesses- speak to your\r\n\r\nstrengths).\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<b>Conclusion:<\/b>\u00a0Motivate action.\r\n\r\n*request an interview.\r\n\r\n*refer to the resume.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\nDo not ask questions about salaries, benefits, etc. Remember persuasive strategies:\u00a0<i>credibility, facts, non-emotional tone.<\/i>\u00a0Include a photocopy of the listing.
