There are actually many statues of <\/span><\/b><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">David<b>\u00a0 in Florence, but the sculpture that I was thinking of was Michelangelo's version. After teaching art history for 35 years, I have grown weary of seeing this statue around every corner. I have read 25 years of essays on the 15 foot naked man, that used to be standing in the largest square in that renaissance city.<\/b><\/span>\r\n\r\n<strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">https:\/\/www.khanacademy.org\/humanities\/renaissance-reformation\/high-ren-florence-rome\/michelangelo\/a\/michelangelo-sculptor-painter-architect-and-poet<\/span><\/strong>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><b>The original is in a museum, and the one on the street is a copy! When you travel around the city, you often will plan to meet someone at the \"fake\" David.<\/b><\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><b>This particular marble man still inspires awe. It may be the most beautiful object made by human hands. And in this giant's face, one sees the pride that was Florence, in the early years of the 16th century.
