Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker provide a description, historical perspective, and analysis of Picasso’s The Reservoir, Horta de Ebro.
A Note from Dr. Zucker: The painting’s title Horta de Ebro is the name Picasso used for the small village of Horta de Sant Joan. Also, I goofed: in this audio, I say that Horta de Sant Joan is in southern Spain—in fact, I should have said southwestern Catalonia, which is, northeastern Spain.
Pablo Picasso, The Reservoir, Horta de Ebro, summer 1909, oil on canvas, 24-1/8″ × 20-1/8″, (MoMA, fractional and promised gift).
