The Beginning Algebra textbook contains nine chapters—roughly one and a half chapters every two weeks for a 12-week semester.

The following modifications can be made to the course without affecting student preparedness:

• Module 2: Graphing and Module 3: Systems of Equations and Inequalities can be removed, or taught later in the course but require knowledge from Module 1: Solving Linear Equations and Inequalities
• Module 3: Systems of Equations and Inequalities should be taught after Module 2: Graphing
• Modules 4-8 should be taught sequentially

We recommend NOT doubling up the following chapters, as they are more dense than other chapters, or provide important foundational concepts:

• Module 1: Solving Linear Equations and Inequalities
• Module 3: Systems of Equations and Inequalities
• Module 6: Factoring

A few additional notes involving content coverage:

• Module 0: Review includes light coverage of the order of operations including distributive property and absolute value. This chapter can be used as either an introduction or review for these concepts.
