The Calculus I textbook contains six modules — roughly two to three weeks per module for a sixteen-week semester.
If your institution does not cover integration in Calculus I, or only briefly introduces integration during Calculus I:
- Module 5: Integration and Module 6: Applications of Integration can be skipped, or taught for only a few sections – these two modules are also covered at the beginning of Lumen’s Calculus II course.
If you need to modify the pace and cover the material more quickly:
- Module 4: Applications of Derivatives and Module 6: Applications of Integration can be lightened by focusing only on the sections you find most critical.
If there is an assumption that your students are well prepared for Calculus I and do not need much review:
- Module 1: Functions and Graphs can be skipped – it contains material covered in typical Precalculus courses.
