This week’s lab is based on colligative properties. Colligative properties are defined. The freezing point depression of an aqueous solution is used to calculate the molar mass of an unknown solute.
Objectives: After completing this week’s assignments you will be able to:
- Define and identify colligative properties.
- Observe the effect of a solute on the freezing point of a solvent.
- Determine the molar mass of a nonvolatile, nonionizing solute.
