This week’s lab is a review of CHM 111 lab concepts including safe laboratory practices, titrations, collecting data to the correct number of significant figures, and making conclusions based on experimental results. Students will standardize an NaOH solution using a primary standard. The standardized NaOH solution will then be used to determine the neutralizing capacity of an antacid.
Objectives: After completing this week’s assignments you will be able to:
- Calculate the concentration of a NaOH solution by tritrating with a primary standard.
- Determine the mol base present in a commercially available antacid.
- Distinguish and balance neutralization reactions.
