1. In the next session, we will be working on building support networks. Some of us come in to situations, such as college, with people in our corner rooting us on. They let us know they believe in us and want us to be successful at school. While others walk in to class feeling alone and with people telling us the very opposite, that they don’t know why we are in school and they see no point in it. This kind of energy potentially pushes us away from this goal. Many of us fall in between this spectrum, so we have to work to be successful in spite of these critics. No matter how supported we feel walking into a new situation it is good to build a support network. We will look at potential ways of doing this on and off campus. You will be asked to participate in an activity or attend an event to complete your first project. Looking ahead to this assignment sooner rather than later would be a good idea to aid in your planning and scheduling.
2. We will also push beyond our comfort zone by seeking solutions, taking action, and trying something new. We will focus on this last one. Now that we are more familiar with the culture of higher education we can look to dive deeper into this concept and what it means to be a part of the Ivy Tech community.
