Fears and challenges you may have about starting college.\u00a0 Are you just finishing high school or coming back to school later in life?\u00a0 Why you choose a healthcare major?\u00a0 Include any other fun facts –\u00a0jobs, musical tastes, married, kids, favorite foods\/restaurants, etc.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0 Complete the Academic Wellness Inventory and share your results.\u00a0 Examples: Which of the nine areas of the student college experience are going to be the most challenging for you?\u00a0 Which of these are not a problem for you? Are any of those topics an area in which you hope this course will better prepare you for? How could learning new skills in this\/these areas assist you in becoming a more successful student? <\/p>\n
Responses can be typed in Microsoft Word and then pasted into the IvyLearn discussion board, or simply type it in the Discussion Board.\u00a0 \u00a0Click “reply”\u00a0to start your own entry\/post in the discussion board, then click “post” to submit the response. \u00a0This is due by Wednesday at midnight. Make sure you reply to at least two other class members posts by Sunday at midnight. Your replies need to be at least 3-4 sentences in length. For example, indicate whether you agree or\u00a0disagree with their opinion, have something in common or made a connection to their posting. Replies must be respectful and well thought out.\u00a0 Be sure your peer responses further the discussion in some way and do not just simply state whether you agree or disagree.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Replying to people you don’t know can be a little difficult for some at the start but this is how we get to know each other. \u00a0Push past a “Hi!” or “Good Luck!” and try to connect with something they have posted. They don’t all have to be paragraphs but do need to be a response that lets the person know you actually read what they posted. For example, “Hi! I am studying nursing too. I have enjoyed the course work so far and am currently working at a home healthcare company. It isn’t quite what I thought it would be but I am gaining experience in the field. I hope to finish my nursing degree and one day be employed in a hospital, preferably in the critical care unit.
