What you’ll learn to do: describe ways to find evidence in support of a claim
A working thesis establishes your essay’s main claim—what you are arguing to be true. However, a claim alone isn’t enough to convince a thoughtful audience. Readers, especially in academic settings, expect well-reasoned arguments backed by credible evidence. Without support, even the most compelling claim remains unconvincing.
In this section, we’ll explore how to find, evaluate, and apply appropriate evidence to strengthen your writing and make your arguments more persuasive.
