This discussion will help you practice narrowing a broad subject step by step. You will choose your own topic and refine it by asking defining questions, conducting preliminary research, and developing a clear research question.\r\n<h2>Discussion Instructions<\/h2>\r\n<p data-start=\"447\" data-end=\"485\"><strong data-start=\"451\" data-end=\"483\">STEP 1: <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">Pick <\/span>any broad topic<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\"> that interests you. It could be related to your major, a social issue, a historical event, a scientific advancement\u2014anything you might be expected to research in a college course. Once you have chosen a topic, list at least five specific areas within your topic that you could explore.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"912\"><strong>Example: <\/strong>If the broad topic you choose is technology, possible subtopics could include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, wearable devices, technology's impact on health, or automation in the workplace.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p data-start=\"914\" data-end=\"997\"><strong>STEP 2:<\/strong> Choose one of your listed topics and do some quick research using general sources (Google, Wikipedia, news articles, etc.).
