As expressed in one of author and cartoonist Hugh MacLeod\u2019s business card art creations: \u201ca story without love is not worth sharing.\u201d\n\nThe following techniques are adaptations from author and communication expert Mike Parkinson\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.presentationxpert.com\/spark-a-fire-5-tips-to-grab-and-hold-audience-attention\">\"Spark a Fire: 5 Tips to Grab and Hold Audience Attention:\"<\/a>\n<ol>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Surprise:<\/strong> Saying, showing, or doing something unexpected reengages the audience\u2019s brains.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Suspense:<\/strong> Use drama, slowly building your idea like a verbal puzzle.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Storytelling:<\/strong> Share a unique and compelling story to illustrate your point.<\/li>\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Senses:<\/strong> Engage the senses\u2014hearing, sight, taste, touch, and smell.
