Mapping your guided pathways – January 16, 2020
- Colleges will host a day of activities on your campus –invite participants based on the agenda below. We recommend inviting at least:
- Team facilitator
- Executive lead
- Dean/Curriculum leaders
- Chief Academic Officer
- Faculty members (representing arts & sciences and career/technical education)
- Advising leaders
- Others appropriate to your campus
Event Objectives:
- Provide the colleges with the foundation necessary to develop clear, efficient and
coherent maps for all of the programs at the institution. - Outline the importance of program mapping to implementation of the pathways model as
outlined by this project. - Discuss the utility of broad program areas, often called meta-majors or communities of
interest. - Create action plans for designing and implementing program maps at the institutional
level.

9:30 – 10:30 am Webinar #1: Meta-Majors: redesigning the student experience

Reviewing and refining the institution’s process for developing program maps for transfer and for CTE programs and a timeline for implementation

For colleges with existing program maps, examining additional components/features to be included in the maps, such as identification of critical courses and progress milestones and incorporation of applied learning experiences

Examining existing advising and student-facing information to determine how to clearly communicate the pathways to students and advisors
