What you’ll learn to do: given a random variable, create a discrete probability distribution
How many dogs are owned by a household? It could be 0, 1, 2, 3, or more. If we find the percentage or probability associated with each value, we have created a probability distribution function for a discrete random variable. In this section, you will learn about properties of probability distribution functions for discrete random variables; and in future sections, we will look at other types of probability distribution functions.
