Airlines need to predict how long a flight will take. There is a relationship between length of the flight and flight time. The line of best fit is the line that makes the best predictions. This line is referred to as the least-squares regression line. The correlation coefficient and coefficient of determination are numbers that can be used to explain the strength of a linear relationship.
