What you’ll learn to do: calculate normal distributions and percentiles for a normal distribution
Penguins and other birds are often tagged to track their migration patterns. Most birds follow a typical number of migration days, but others birds might make the migratory trip in less time or more time. If migration times were normally distributed, what percentage of birds would migrate within 80 days? How many days is associated with the tenth percentile? To answer these questions, the empirical rule for normal distributions can be used along with tables or technology.
