Learning Outcomes
By the end of this section, you will be able to:
- Locate decimals on the number line
- Order decimals and fractions
- Simplify expressions containing decimals and fractions using the order of operations
In this module, you will compare means for more than two groups and perform hypothesis tests for variances. For example, researchers may wonder if the mean amount of time spent training is the same for all age groups of runners participating in a marathon. They may also want to know if the variability in race times is the same for people who identify as males as for people who identify as females.
Calculations for these tests can involve fractions, decimals, and exponents. In this review section, we’ll review ordering decimals and fractions and simplifying expressions containing decimals and fractions using the order of operations.
Recall for success
Look for red boxes like this one throughout the text. They’ll show up just in time to give helpful reminders of the math you’ll need, right where you’ll need it.
