Clearly visualize your goals. Thinking about the following questions may help:\r\n<ul id=\"lochhaas-ch04_s02_l02\" class=\"im_itemizedlist im_editable im_block\">\r\n\t<li>What do I want to get out of the class?<\/li>\r\n\t<li>What is the main idea the class will cover?<\/li>\r\n\t<li>How will today\u2019s class help me do better in this course?<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nGo to class with confidence. The best way to achieve this is to start early and be sure you\u2019ve completed any assignment the instructor gave you in the last class. Think about how today\u2019s material will tie into what you\u2019ve already learned. You should also review the course <span class=\"im_margin_term\"><span class=\"im_glossterm\">syllabus<\/span><\/span> to see what the instructor expects to cover in the class and how it relates to what you have learned so far.\r\n\r\nBe physically prepared, too:\r\n<ul id=\"lochhaas-ch04_s02_l03\" class=\"im_itemizedlist im_editable im_block\">\r\n\t<li>Make sure you are getting enough sleep and eating nutritious meals, including breakfast. It\u2019s hard to focus on learning when you\u2019re hungry.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Make sure you have all materials you\u2019ll need for class (paper, pens, laptop, books, etc.).<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Be punctual. Give yourself plenty of time to get into your seat and organize your space. If you are late, you\u2019ll struggle to get into the right mind-set for listening, and you won\u2019t feel in control of your learning as you try to catch up with the class. If you\u2019re tardy, you also create a distraction for your classmates\u2014and the instructor, who will take notice!<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Clear away all other distractions before the instructor starts.
