Wave Motion and Sound-Overview, Learning Objectives and Content
Why does your voice sound different when talking to someone face-to-face or under water in a pool? What is a wavelength? What is frequency? How does interference of waves amplify or eliminate sounds? Look inside this module to find answers to these questions.
Overview
Topics included in this module that we will cover are, waves motions and sounds. We will learn the basics of waves, vibrations, sound and the impact on sound that different media have. We will also explore reflection, refraction and interference of waves-including constructive and destructive interference.
Module 7 Learning Objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- Solve elementary problems involving vibrations, waves and sounds
- Given the wavelengths, identify what type of wave it is.
- Calculate the velocity of a wave.
- Distinguish the differences between vibrations and waves.
