Newton’s Third Law

Learning Outcomes

    • Identify the pair of forces that satisfy Newton’s Third Law.
      • Identify the two objects interacting to generate a particular force, including which object the force is exerted on and which object the force is exerted by.
      • Recognize that a Newton’s Third Law pair of forces must meet the following criteria:
        • they are the same type of force,
        • both forces have the same magnitude,
        • the pair of forces point in opposite directions, and
        • the object causing the force and the object feeling the force are switched
