dropping phrases because they are too cumbersome to say time and again.\u00a0 Talking about an object\u2019s moment of inertia tends to be one of those times.\u00a0 We often say, \u201cthe object\u2019s moment of inertia is\u2026\u201d, when in fact what we mean is \u201cthe object\u2019s moment of inertia <em>about a particular axis <\/em>is\u2026\u201d.\u00a0 Because the moment of inertia is defined relative to an axis, make sure the moment of inertia you are using is for the axis you want.\u00a0 If it isn\u2019t, you can use the parallel axis theorem to calculate the moment of
