Instructor Guide 2B: Corequisite Support

While this support activity is designed for a face-to-face, synchronous delivery, it should be noted that supporting text and interactive examples have been embedded in the digital assignment page to assist asynchronous or hybrid course delivery and to be made more accessible to students performing make-up work.

Notes for synchronous active-learning delivery

This corequisite support activity is designed to review the concepts of sample and population, as well as statistic and parameter, and prepare students for activities about the basics of inference. Random, within the context of statistics, is also explored in this support activity. The definition of this concept is reviewed, and images are used to assist students in remembering the concept.

Throughout this support activity, make sure to provide appropriate think time to write. You may want to use a think-pair-share format and have students share their thoughts with partners before sharing with the whole group. This format provides a safe space for students to share their thoughts without feeling intimidated.
