This will help students prepare to compare\u00a0distributions in the upcoming in-class activity. Have students work in pairs to discuss.\u00a0The following four features should be used to guide students through describing the\u00a0distribution of a variable. A complete description will include a discussion of the\u00a0following:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Shape: The overall pattern (left skewed, right skewed, symmetric) and the\u00a0number of peaks (unimodal, bimodal, multimodal, uniform)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Center: A measure that describes where the middle of the distribution is. The\u00a0center is a number that describes a typical value. For example, one way to\u00a0think about center is that it could be the point in the distribution where about\u00a0half of the observations are below it and half are above it.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Spread: A measure of how far apart the data are. In the previous and\u00a0upcoming lesson, the range is used to measure spread.
