A less discussed, but equally important, context is how or where we encounter an artwork, and how that affects\u00a0our interpretation. This is part of the viewer context. Consider this photograph taken during the Spanish Civil War, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metmuseum.org\/collection\/the-collection-online\/search\/283315\"><em>The Falling Soldier<\/em><\/a>, by highly regarded documentary photographer Robert Capa.\r\n\r\nFrom its first release it was provocative, because it was assumed\u00a0to be the first photograph of someone being shot at the moment\u00a0of the\u00a0bullet's impact and possibly the moment of death. Its authenticity continues to be hotly debated. When the photo was first seen\u00a0in the European magazine <em>Vu<\/em> in 1936, it was accompanied by\u00a0other photographs depicting\u00a0the suffering of people during the Spanish Civil War. However, when <em>LIFE<\/em>\u00a0magazine reprinted it in 1937 for an American audience, it was part of a two-page magazine spread adjacent to an ad for Vitalis, a men\u2019s hair product.
