Career and Job Search Counseling
Students can meet with a Career Counselor during a scheduled appointment or during walk-in hours. Career counselors are available to meet individually with students about any aspect of the career development process, from identifying an academic area of interest to engaging in the job search process. Feel free to refer students to us; we are located in Building 3, room 108. Listed below are some of the resources available to students.

  • Career Resources for the Schools at MCC

  • Purple Briefcase
    Looking for a job? Purple Briefcase is a comprehensive online career network. View and apply for jobs online, create a profile and upload your resume for employer viewing, and watch over 400 short clips focused on career preparation. Purple Briefcase is located under the Campus Life area within myMCC.
  • FOCUS2 – Career and Educational Planning System
    FOCUS2 is a computer-based system designed to assist students with career and educational planning. The FOCUS system enables students to discover and learn about career options related to their personal attributes. Users learn to make realistic decisions about their goals and plans, how to self-manage their careers and the importance of adaptability in these times of change.

    Discover majors and in-demand careers and education based on your interests!
  • Career Profiles
    Career Profiles provide students with valuable career related information including descriptions, related careers and job titles, salary information and educational/training requirements. Profiles are available for most academic programs at MCC.
  • Career Library
    The Career Library houses invaluable, up-to-date occupational materials that provide students with information about careers and employment. Students can access the Internet in the Career Library for career and job search planning purposes.
  • Vault
    The World’s leading source of Career Intelligence. Research careers, explore industries and professions, gain career advice to get ahead, access internship and job databases, watch videos on a variety of career topics and research top employers.
  • Resume & Cover Letter Information / Services
    Career Services offers many resources to assist with resume writing. Watch a short video, follow along with a worksheet and refer to sample resumes, stop in during resume walk-in hours, drop off your resume and/or cover letter for review or meet with a Career Counselor.
  • Interview Preparation, Interviewing Strategies and Mock Interviews
    View sample interview questions and learn what to say and what not to say. Practice your interviewing skills during a mock interview and receive valuable feedback from a counselor.
  • Meet Employers during On-campus Recruiting Events
    Employers are on campus nearly every day looking to hire MCC students.
