Pell and TAP Limits

Pell limit: The lifetime limit is only true for the Pell grant. Full-time students can get Pell for up to six years for their undergraduate degree. However, the Pell time limit is prorated when they are part-time meaning Pell could go over the six years when Pell is adjusted to part-time studies.

TAP limit: For TAP (New York State financial aid) the limit is a total of four years, or eight semesters, of which, students enrolled at two-year colleges can receive a maximum of six semesters of TAP. TAP is for full-time students except for individuals with learning disabilities. If students transfer to a four-year school, TAP eligible students can receive TAP there.

Part-time studentsĀ are not eligible for the TAP grant. However, they can apply for the Aid for Part-time Studies (APTS) grant. Students apply for APTS through the MCC financial aid website (under Forms).
