{"id":41,"date":"2018-12-05T18:58:03","date_gmt":"2018-12-05T18:58:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/courses.lumenlearning.com\/mmc-advisorhandbook\/?post_type=part&#038;p=41"},"modified":"2019-03-12T21:47:41","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T21:47:41","slug":"chapter-12-interpreting-high-school-transcripts","status":"publish","type":"part","link":"https:\/\/courses.lumenlearning.com\/mcc-advisorhandbook\/part\/chapter-12-interpreting-high-school-transcripts\/","title":{"raw":"Chapter 12: Admissions Information","rendered":"Chapter 12: Admissions Information"},"content":{"raw":"The MCC Admissions Office can accept anyone unless they don\u2019t meet the minimum requirement on the ESOL\/CELSA exam or if they don\u2019t get a hold lifted for a disciplinary dismissal.\u00a0 Financial aid &amp; graduation eligibility is separate.\r\n\r\nThe high school transcript shows us if a student graduated, or is on track to graduate, from high school:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>We can accept anyone who is on track to graduate with a Local or Regents diploma, or has graduated with one, without having to set their status as \u201cpending\u201d for an admission interview (not needed for those with a GED\/TASC diploma).<\/li>\r\n \t<li>If a student has any ESOL coursework on their high school transcript, then we have to set their status as \u201cpending\u201d and they\u2019ll have to take an ESOL\/CELSA exam and meet a minimum score (which can be found on our website) to be admitted.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nIEPs are Individual Education Plans and if a student graduates with an IEP diploma, they may not be eligible for financial aid unless they pass our Ability to Benefit version (ATB) of the placement exam. Then they could be eligible for state aid, but not federal aid until they earn a GED\/TASC diploma. This is assuming that they are also financially eligible for aid.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Having an IEP plan in high school does not necessarily mean they\u2019ll have an IEP diploma. They may have graduated with a Local or Regents diploma, which will admit them in the normal way.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>IEP diplomas can be listed as CDOS credentials now (a student can graduate with a Local or a Regents diploma and a CDOS credential, they would be fine for financial aid and graduation in that case).<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Admissions has a document that goes over the diploma\/credential requirements for NYS.
