What you’ll learn to do: identify and apply different types of analytic processes
You will face many analytical writing tasks during your time at university, regardless of your major or field. As you learned in the last section, analysis is a function of mature critical thinking. In fact, analysis is a component of almost all academic and professional writing tasks. You will encounter various synonyms for analysis in assignment descriptions including interpretation, inquiry, evaluation. All of these terms denote the same skill: “to unravel or investigate.” In this section, we will “unravel” several common analytical writing assignments. This section will teach you how to apply context-appropriate analytic processes to tasks as a writer.
