The development of this OER textbook was initiated by Lumen and adopted and adapted by Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) to provide its students with a low-cost textbook.

Salt Lake Community College faculty Deena Bain, Shayne Vargo and Kristin Cartwright have worked on the project of adapting the Lumen Textbook to fit the needs of the Elementary Algebra Course at Salt Lake Community College, including making substantial contributions and edits to the original OER textbook. You will note there are many places where we have diverged significantly from their original text and added our own voice. We hope our perspective contributes beneficially to the world of OER mathematics material.
