Environmental health is an important part of public health. Ultimately, the environment in which you live and work can have major health effects for yourself and others. In order to keep the population safe and react promptly when there is an environmental health emergency, many different monitoring systems are in place. A multitude of agencies work together to ensure the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the soil we grow our food in are safe. To ensure this safety, many laws have been enacted and more are continually passed and modified. We all have a stake in ensuring our environment is conducive to optimal health.
