Meet Your Instructor

Ryan Hersha (BA, Michigan; MA, Virginia), a full-time instructor at CCC since 2010, teaches courses in literature, composition, reading, and public speaking. He brings to his teaching a special commitment to preparing his students for empowered participation in an increasingly connected and interdependent world.

Working as a SUNY COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) Fellow and Grantee, Prof. Hersha partnered with Prof. Ubaldimir Guerra of the University of Belize to develop globally networked learning (GNL) courses in 2012, 2013, and 2014. In these special offerings, CCC students used online communication tools to learn in close collaboration with students attending the University of Belize.

In 2014, Prof. Hersha developed another innovative learning opportunity for CCC students: Verse & Sky. In this online course students explored humankind’s relationship with the cosmos and the night sky through many lenses of world poetry. Verse & Sky is being offered again in Spring 2015, this time as a COIL offering, again connecting students at CCC with students in Belize through online discussions, shared reading assignments, and real time conversations.
