Module One Details

This course will focus on the need for effective communication skills, and will allow you the practice of skills necessary to communicate well in different contexts.

To begin, we’ll read a handout by Dr. McGarrity, “Welcome to Public Speaking.”  In it, he lays out the definition of logos, pathos, and ethos as rhetorical tools.  It will also introduce the concepts of invention, arrangement, style, memory and delivery.

Alternatively, you can choose to review Chapter 1 of The Public Speaking Project, “Introduction to Public Speaking.”
