What CC0 Means<\/h2>\r\nCC0 enables scientists, educators, artists and other creators and owners of copyright- or database-protected content to waive those interests in their works and thereby place them as completely as possible in the public domain, so that others may freely build upon, enhance and reuse the works for any purposes without restriction under copyright or database law.\r\n\r\nIn contrast to CC\u2019s licenses that allow copyright holders to choose from a range of permissions while retaining their copyright, CC0 empowers yet another choice altogether \u2013 the choice to opt out of copyright and database protection, and the exclusive rights automatically granted to creators \u2013 the \u201cno rights reserved\u201d alternative to our licenses.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nCreative Commons offers additional information about CC0 here<\/a>.\r\n\r\n \r\n

How to Use CC0 Sources\u00a0in Candela<\/h2>\r\nOER material with a CC0 license allows you to apply any of the 5R's (reuse, revise, remix, redistribute, and retain)<\/a> to it. \u00a0You can copy & paste it straight into Candela; you can adapt it; or you can remix it with other CC sources (except CC-ND).\r\n\r\n \r\n

How to Attribute CC0 Sources in Candela<\/h2>\r\n
Though CC0\u00a0works legally do not have to be attributed, it\u2019s good practice to identify and credit them in your Candela course. \u00a0This can be easily done\u00a0using the Citations tool. \u00a0That way, you\u2019re modeling good citation practice for your students, and allowing other viewers who might be interested in the content to be able to track it down for themselves.<\/div>\r\n \r\n
