{"id":398,"date":"2018-10-27T19:59:30","date_gmt":"2018-10-27T19:59:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/courses.lumenlearning.com\/suny-esc-educationalplanning\/?post_type=chapter&#038;p=398"},"modified":"2018-12-11T19:20:58","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T19:20:58","slug":"finalizing-your-degree-plan","status":"publish","type":"chapter","link":"https:\/\/courses.lumenlearning.com\/suny-esc-educationalplanning\/chapter\/finalizing-your-degree-plan\/","title":{"raw":"Finalizing Your Degree Plan","rendered":"Finalizing Your Degree Plan"},"content":{"raw":"Although you used many sources to help you choose courses as you were developing\u00a0your degree plan, you need to review those sources as you <em>finalize<\/em> your degree plan.\r\n<h2>ESC Undergraduate Area of Study Guidelines<\/h2>\r\nEspecially review the ESC Undergraduate Area of Study Guidelines.\u00a0 Using these guidelines, analyze the contents of your degree to help you finalize.\u00a0 This type of analysis is akin to doing a reverse outline when you're writing an essay.\u00a0 In essay writing, after you create a draft, it's useful to set the draft aside for a day or two, and then re-read and annotate the draft by writing each main idea in the margin of the draft.\u00a0 Annotating helps you\u00a0get a sense of the overall idea or conceptual structure of the essay, and make sure that it's what you intended.\u00a0 In the same way, go back to your draft degree plan in DPPlanner.\u00a0 Annotate the courses in your concentration using the Area of Study Guidelines. If there are both general Area of Study Guidelines and specific concentration guidelines that are applicable to your degree plan, analyze your degree using both.\r\n\r\nFor example, one of the guidelines for a concentration in human services is\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><strong>Knowledge of human behavior: <\/strong>Students should identify and demonstrate an understanding of human behavior within the context of various social, developmental, global, economic, political, biological and\/or environmental systems.
