When you're holding a buckled armrest or find yourself suddenly collapsing to the floor in the middle of the night, you'll appreciate that yes, it would have been better to read the manual closely the first time (or to have read it at all...) instead of displaying a warped futon or having to unpick your mistakes now when you're tired and it's dark and you really have better things to be doing with your time.
