That\u00a0way she<\/strong>\u00a0could listen to them<\/strong> as she<\/strong>\u00a0ran.<\/p>\nThis second paragraph is much more natural. Instead of repeating nouns multiple times, we were able to use pronouns. You've likely hear the phrase \"a pronoun replaces a noun\"; this is exactly<\/em> what a pronoun does.\u00a0Because a pronoun is replacing a noun, its meaning is dependent on the noun that it is replacing. This noun\u00a0is called the\u00a0antecedent<\/strong>. Let's look at the two sentences we just read again:\n
