Ideally, \u201cpercent\u201d is always associated with a specific number:\r\n<blockquote>The maximum error that can be introduced by over-mixing is 10%.<\/blockquote>\r\n\u201cPercentage\u201d is used to refer to a general relationship rather than a specific measure:\r\n<blockquote>A large percentage of the people voted, but only 20 percent of the votes counted.<\/blockquote>\r\nIn published literature, many writers use \u201cpercent\u201d as an adjective (\u201cpercent quartz\u201d) for economy, especially in figures and tables.
