All Epic and Heroic Quests involve meeting new people and traveling to new places. This chapter will help you understand how we perceive all those new people and experiences.
As you explore MontAerie, you are impressed by the society you see here. Even though everyone you have met so far is a type of bird or mammal, they act in a very human-like way. They have leaders, religions, towns, schools, shops, infrastructure, agriculture, bars and theaters, the lot! And just like humans while most of the individuals are kind and good, many are busy with their own lives and can sometimes act in thoughtless ways.
You also notice that although there is a hierarchy, there is no obvious oppression occurring. However, you are starting to get the sense that there is an expected order to things, the birds seem to be on top of the social pyramid, especially the falcons, the foxes at the middle level, and the badgers toward the bottom. Most of the people seem content, but you thought you overheard some disgruntled mutters in the market the other day.
Overall, MontAerie is very like your human world in many ways. As you slowly adjust to your new, changed body, your new environment, and the reality that you’re stuck here for the time being, you decide to get to know your neighbors better, while keeping your head down until you understand things better.
What will you think of your new neighbors? What factors will you pay the most attention to as you form your initial impressions – person factors or situation factors, or both? What will your new neighbors think of you? Will you make friends? Will you make enemies? Will you ever make it home?
