Purpose: You will meet with a classmate in person, over Zoom, or via a phone call to practice using information in Spanish with a partner about dollars and cents in Spanish. The collaboration part of this activity will take approximately 20 minutes, so plan accordingly. You will each have access to different information, and working together, you will both be able to fill in the information gaps on your respective charts.
After you work with your partner through the questions, you will independently write a reflection about your experience doing this activity.
Task: Download or print the following PDF. PDF: En un restaurante. Inside, you will find information about a scenario in which five diners who have paid their tabs have to separate the change they are each due. Determine who will be Estudiante 1 and who will be Estudiante 2. Start off by reading the scenario and instructions for Paso 1. After you have completed each chart, check your answers by completing Paso 2.
After you complete the activity with your partner, you will write a report in Spanish ‘Reporte’ based on your interaction with your partner. Your report needs to answer the following questions in paragraph form. Make sure to write out the numbers in letters.
- ¿Cuánto dinero paga cada (each) persona?
- ¿Cuánto cambio recibe (receives) cada persona?
- You will need to provide proof of your interaction with your partner to your instructor. Please upload a photo or screenshot of your portion of the completed PDF activity so that your instructor can see the work you did.
Criteria: 50% of the grade for this activity comes from your thoughtful reflection addressing questions 1-5 on the previous Task portion above. The other 50% of the grade will come from point 6, the “proof” you submit to your instructor through a photo or screenshot of your portion of the completed activity. If you are unsure about how your instructor wants you to submit this assignment (i.e. upload a word processing file, respond to a prompt, etc.), please ask for clarification before beginning.
