A. Verbo ‘estar’

Fill in the blanks with the correct form of the verb ‘estar’. Pay attention to subject-verb agreement.

B. Verbos con cambio de raíz (o-ue) y (e-ie)

Tina and Marta have not seen each other in a while. Follow their conversation and fill in each blank with the conjugation of one of the verbs in the word bank below. Pay attention to the context so you can choose the correct verb, and pay attention to subject-verb agreement and the change that undergoes each verb.

Fill in the blanks with the correct pronoun (me/ te/ le/ nos/ os/ les) and a form of verb ‘gustar’ (gusta/ gustan). Don’t forget to pay attention to “what is pleasing” in order to choose the correct form of ‘gustar’.

H. Conversación relámpago (lightning chats)

With a different classmate, use what you have learned in Unidades 7 & 8 and follow the steps below to introduce yourself and ask questions of a new person in class.

Paso 1: Make a list of your pastimes and the things you like to do and you don’t like to do on your free time. Then, using four stem-changing verbs from the table below, write four sentences about yourself and the things you do. You can go beyond the basics by incorporating information from previous units (on what days, at what times, where, and with whom you do these activities).

Paso 2: Using stem-changing verbs from the table above, write down some questions that will let you find out what your classmate does regularly. Ask them a combination of Yes/No questions and information questions using the question words you have learned in these units. You can check the list of questions in the activity above to get some ideas.

Paso 3: Ask your classmate the questions you developed in Paso 2 and answer your classmate’s questions.

Paso 4: Write down the information you learned about your classmate in the third person (he/she). Be prepared to share with the class what you learned.
