Our view of the future depends largely on our view of the past and the present. If we believe the emergence of the culture of capitalism has succeeded in solving many of the problems of the world and bettering our lives, then we will no doubt believe that it continue to do so in the future. If we believe the culture of capitalism is responsible for most of the problems, then we can only conclude that they will continue to accumulate.
