What you’ll learn to do: Interpret the slope and intercept of graphs that represent data or observations.
Throughout this module you have been learning how graphs represent data visually. Now you will learn how to apply this information with real information. Equations of lines are used everyday in our lives to show changes in patterns from home values to the number of high school smokers.
In this section we will interpret what a slope means when it is calculated from a set of real data points. We will also interpret y-intercepts and make predictions from equations that represent real data.
Specifically, in this section you’ll learn how to:
- Solve slope applications using equations and graphs
- Interpret the characteristics of a linear equation and use that equation to make predictions
