The following questions are meant to be a starting point for students to reflect on what they know about technical writing and researching.
Option 1: Reflection

- What do you want to learn about technical writing?
Option 2. Technical Writing Format
- In your own words, write a definition of Technical Writing.
- How do you understand the terms 1] purpose, 2] format, 3] language, and 4] audience?
- What does it mean to write with cultural considerations and ethics?
Option 3: Research Project
You will learn how to investigate and solve a problem by researching the problem, reporting the data, and offering solutions. Before we start the course, write about a practical problem that interests you. Imagine a problem that your have a personal interest in solving. What is the first thing that comes to mind?
Option 4: Read the Syllabus
Write an statement confirming that you understand the syllabus, the policies, and the grading criteria outlined in the syllabus. Include at least two questions that you have about syllabus and/or the subject of technical writing.
