Welcome Messages to First-Year Seminar Students

Welcome from WCC’s Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs

I am excited to welcome you to Westchester Community College and to your
First-Year Seminar. By enrolling in this course you have taken an
important step toward achieving your educational and career goals.Vanessa Morest

Whether your next stop after WCC is a four-year college or the
workplace, you will find that your First-Year Seminar has been designed
to enhance your knowledge and skills in ways that will prepare you for
both these settings. In this course you will explore and plan your
academic and career pathway, strengthen your learning skills, and
develop effective strategies for achieving your goals. To help you
become a member of the College community, your First-Year Seminar will
also engage you in activities that will connect you to your fellow
students and to our faculty and staff.

I encourage you to get involved in the many rich learning opportunities
that await you in First-Year Seminar and on the WCC campus.

Your First-Year Seminar will also introduce you to WCC’s campus
resources and to the faculty and staff who are here to guide and support
you along your pathway. The College has so much to offer its students. I
hope you will take full advantage of its services and ask for any
assistance that you may need.

I wish you all the best on your academic journey!

Sincerely,

Dr. Vanessa Morest

Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs
