Read two illustration essays: “She’s Your Basic L.O.L. in N.A.D” by Perri Klass (published in The New York Times), and “April & Paris” by David Sedaris (published in The New Yorker).

In the essay, “She’s Your Basic L.O.L. in N.A.D,” pediatrician and writer Perri Klass discusses the medical-speak she encountered in her training as a doctor and its underlying meaning.

In “April & Paris,” writer David Sedaris explores the unique impact of animals on the human psyche.
