The way you choose will depend both on exactly the type of comparison you want to make (if you want to say something is bigger than as opposed to as big as...), and what you are trying to compare. Let\u2019s consider the different ways to make comparisons in Spanish. First, we will see how to use the expressions \"more\" or \"less\" than, when comparing two things or persons. You may use these expressions with either qualities or with objects and things . If you want to say that something is better or worse than something else, you will use <span class=\"foreign\">mejor que<\/span> or <span class=\"foreign\">peor que<\/span>. If you want to say that someone is older or younger than someone else, you will use <span class=\"foreign\">mayor que<\/span> or <span class=\"foreign\">menor que<\/span>. If you want to say that you have as many books as your sister, or that your house doesn\u2019t have as many rooms as your friend\u2019s house, you will use the expression <span class=\"foreign\">tanto\/tantas<\/span> + noun + <span class=\"foreign\">como<\/span>. This expression is slightly more difficult than the other ones that you have just learned because you have to pay attention to the agreement of gender and number. If you are talking about having as much money <span class=\"foreign\">dinero<\/span> as another person, you will use the masculine singular form <span class=\"foreign\">tanto<\/span> to agree with <span class=\"foreign\">dinero<\/span>. Now, we will look at how to compare more than two things, in order to say that someone is \"the tallest\" or the \"most handsome\" of all; in other words, we will be considering superlatives. When you are making this type of statement, you will use the definite article (<span class=\"foreign\">el<\/span> or <span class=\"foreign\">la<\/span>), and you will be using <span class=\"foreign\">de<\/span> instead of <span class=\"foreign\">que<\/span>.
