Let's go step by step through a few examples. If we take the question <span class=\"foreign\">\u00bfQui\u00e9n dio las rosas a Mar\u00eda?<\/span>, we know that we are asking who gave the roses to Mar\u00eda. First, we can answer the question just using the indirect object pronoun\u2014substituting for \"to her:\" <span class=\"foreign\">Pedro le dio las rosas<\/span>. First, we can answer the question just using the indirect object pronoun\u2014substituting for &#8220;to her:&#8221; <span class=\"foreign\">Pedro le dio las rosas<\/span>. Now, if we answer that question using both the indirect and direct object pronouns, we will change that <span class=\"foreign\">le<\/span> to <span class=\"foreign\">se<\/span>, and then use <span
