Metronome markings are\u00a0 given in beats per minute. They can be estimated using a clock with a second hand, but the easiest way to illustrate them is with a <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial; color: #373d3f;\">metronome -<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: normal; text-align: initial; color: #373d3f;\"> a tool which clicks off\u00a0 beats per minute. For a tempo of 60 beats per minute signifies one would hear\u00a0 one click\u00a0 per second,\u00a0 The greater the number of beats per minute, faster the tempo (a smaller the amount of time between successive beats).\r\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">Note the\u00a0\u00a0metronome markings\u00a0 the top of teach staff below. \u00a0In the first\u00a0time signature example:\u00a0 4\/4 -\u00a0 the top number\u00a0refers \u00a0to the number of beats in each measure (See <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">measure <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">in the discussion of <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">meter<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\"> in Module 2).\u00a0\u00a0The lower number refers to the\u00a0 note which gets one beat - in the top example this would be a quarter note<\/span>\r\n<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p id=\"p0b\"><a href=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/courses-images-archive-read-only\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/950\/2015\/06\/26002610\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-23-at-3.03.20-PM.png\"><img class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-498\" src=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/courses-images-archive-read-only\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/950\/2015\/06\/26002610\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-23-at-3.03.20-PM.png\" alt=\"Metronome Markings, 4\/4 time quarter note = 88 means 88 quarter notes per minute. You experience rhythm and tempo.\u00a0 \u00a0It provides\u00a0 some fine exercises for feeling beats.\u00a0 The\u00a0 metronome sounds indicate the beats at a given tempo. The ta's and tis you hear from\u00a0 the speaker indicate the - rhythm (discussed later) . You are experiencing rhythm and tempo in this\u00a0 video.\r\n\r\nThis exercise features three common tempos: Andante Moderato, and Allegro. Note that the\u00a0 Moderato and\u00a0 Andante.n\u00a0 tempos are noticeably\u00a0 faster.\r\n\r\nPractice them in the video to get a sense of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">different tempos<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0This will give you excellent practice in leaning to feel and express the beat which necessary in determining meters - required \u00a0in the next topic in this module.. Metronome markings are\u00a0 given in beats per minute. They can be estimated using a clock with a second hand, but the easiest way to illustrate them is with a <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial; color: #373d3f;\">metronome &#8211;<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; font-weight: normal; text-align: initial; color: #373d3f;\"> a tool which clicks off\u00a0 beats per minute. For a tempo of 60 beats per minute signifies one would hear\u00a0 one click\u00a0 per second,\u00a0 The greater the number of beats per minute, faster the tempo (a smaller the amount of time between successive beats).<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">Note the\u00a0\u00a0metronome markings\u00a0 the top of teach staff below. \u00a0In the first\u00a0time signature example:\u00a0 4\/4 &#8211;\u00a0 the top number\u00a0refers \u00a0to the number of beats in each measure (See <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">measure <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">in the discussion of <\/span><strong style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\">meter<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1rem; text-align: initial;\"> in Module 2).\u00a0\u00a0The lower number refers to the\u00a0 note which gets one beat &#8211; in the top example this would be a quarter note<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"p0b\"><a href=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/courses-images-archive-read-only\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/950\/2015\/06\/26002610\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-23-at-3.03.20-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-498\" src=\"https:\/\/s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/courses-images-archive-read-only\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/950\/2015\/06\/26002610\/Screen-Shot-2015-06-23-at-3.03.20-PM.png\" alt=\"Metronome Markings, 4\/4 time quarter note = 88 means 88 quarter notes per minute. The ta&#8217;s and tis you hear from\u00a0 the speaker indicate the &#8211; rhythm (discussed later) . You are experiencing rhythm and tempo in this\u00a0 video.<\/p>\n<p>This exercise features three common tempos: Andante Moderato, and Allegro.
