It is bounded on the west by the\u00a0<a title=\"Pacific Ocean\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pacific_Ocean\">Pacific Ocean<\/a>, the north by the\u00a0<a title=\"Strait of Juan de Fuca\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Strait_of_Juan_de_Fuca\">Strait of Juan de Fuca<\/a>, and the east by Hood Canal.\u00a0<a title=\"Cape Alava\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cape_Alava\">Cape Alava<\/a>, the westernmost point in the contiguous\u00a0<a title=\"United States\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States\">United States<\/a>, and\u00a0<a title=\"Cape Flattery\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cape_Flattery\">Cape Flattery<\/a>, the northwesternmost point, are on the peninsula. Comprising about 3600 square miles, the Olympic Peninsula contained many of the last unexplored places in the\u00a0<a title=\"Contiguous United States\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Contiguous_United_States\">Contiguous United States<\/a>.
